Hi All,

I’m relatively new to 3d printing. Started out with a secondhand Tevo Tornado, which developed shifting in one axis. After a steep learning curve, a bit of cash, and much frustration, I have chosen to buy a Creality Ender 5 Pro, and haven’t looked back since.

After putting about 3kgs of PLA through it, using the standard out of the box configuration it failed on the X axis. Found that the connection on the stepper was to blame, so I’ve replaced the motor and the cable, and now I’m back to printing.

This morning I’ve woken up to a horrible noise coming from the hot end. The smaller cooling fan has failed a bearing. I am having trouble finding the correct replacement part. Everything I am finding is listed for the 5 Plus variant or other Creality printers.

Does anyone know if any of the other variant fans will fit, or where to find the correct part?

Many thanks,

Hello,

This is a good chance to upgrade the cooling fans to something better and quieter. I am fairly certain that all of the Ender 5's come with the same hot-end and cooling fan combination so the one you are finding will work. The stock boards, hot-ends and fans are all shit and will crap out on you over time certainly. I hated when I had my printer down and couldn't use it. I upgraded the mainboard, hot-end, fans and cooling solutions and was much happier with my E5. The SKR Mini E3 is the simple plug and play way to get a higher-end board with silent stepper.

But if you are serious about 3D Printing and wanting to make high quality prints I would suggest you upgrade the whole hot-end assembly. I did this quite quickly with my first Ender's and started with a V6 hot-end kit, which eventually led to a direct-drive with V6 volcano. My final hot-end design on the Ender 5 was either a TriangleLab Rapido with BMG/Orbiter; or the V6 with their new upgraded CHC heater.

Stock Fans (Anything Ender 3, 5 should work if they look the same):

Upgrade Options are below, which is the route I would take. Go ahead and upgrade to direct drive with a good extruder and better hot-end and you will not regret it. Plus you can print TPU, or go a little bit faster with PLA! It's a pretty simple upgrade as well.

Orbiter + V6 (my pick for my newest machines, light and fast)

BMG + V6 (one of my tried and true unbeatable mods)

Sherpa + V6 (Have not tested this)

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802899432192.html?pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%21US%20%2421.96%21US%20%2421.30%21%21%21%21%21%40211b88ef16772490095112302e5d44%2112000025394873419%21sh&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US

Want to do it custom and build the best you can? Get a direct-drive mount system off Thingiverse or 3DPrintMods for the Orbiter, and attach it to a Rapido 115W and it's future proofed!
